“Life by the inch is a cinch. Life by the yard is hard.”–Unknown
In my book Your Spacious Self I offer a series of phrases that are designed to relieve and release the build-up of stress.
The “Attitudes of Be-ing” comprise four sets of simple phrases that guide you to clear from the inside out–from your most dense holding patterns to your most subtle (i.e. the ones you don’t even know you have ;-)). To learn what they are and how they can support you on a daily basis, you’ll need to read the book (or take my online course, which has the guided audio version). For now here’s one as my gift to give you a taste of the experience.
The idea is to repeat the phrase silently and slowly to yourself and allow it to sink into your conscious awareness. When you feel your mind begin to wander, that’s your clue to repeat the phrase and allow it to work its magic.
This exercise is a bit like tossing a pebble into a still pond and noticing the ripples it makes. You’re dropping a powerful phrase into the still waters of your awareness and hanging out there.
Use the phrase especially when you’re feeling stressed, jangled, tired, cranky, fearful, pressured, bummed out, hopeless, uninspired…etc. Breathe it in. Imagine your self “receiving” the phrase like a sponge soaking up water.
So, are you ready? Here it is…
I choose ease.
Don’t let its simplicity fool you. I’ve found that repeating these three little words eludes even my most advanced students.
Try this simple daily practice for two to five minutes (or longer) today and every day for one week and notice the shifts that begin to take place in your life. Notice your breathing.
How does this simple daily practice change the way you feel about the world “out there”? I’d love to hear from you!
