Actually, this is a cute little gimmick from the folks of MomsRising.org and MoveOn.org. Just input anybody’s name and email address and she (or he) will receive their own customized TV featurette, including name tattooed on a hunky guy’s arm just below a crossed-out “Mom.”
Gimmick or no, I must confess as I watched myself being “honored” by the likes of Beyoncé and President Obama, there was a point in the segment that my mind couldn’t tell that it was a fake. It was weirdly cool. I could feel myself swell with pride. I felt good and tingly, like YES, I DO deserve all these accolades. (Imagine what might happen over time if we fed the mind high praises like these all the time!)
So to all you “moms” out there, and everyone who has even just the slightest maternal caring, or compassionate tendencies (yeah that goes for the guys too)… I honor you.
And that’s for real.
