Costofclutter

Ever wonder what all those extra bottles of shampoo you hang onto (just in case) cost in REAL dollars? Throw in the creams, gels, half-used tubes of toothpaste, and make-up that looked really good on you when you had the free makeover at Macy’s (but wouldn’t be caught dead wearing to work).

My colleague Laura Moore, a clutter-clearing consultant based in the greater Boston area, has done just that. Her business ClutterClarity researched the items you see in the photo and totaled the replacement cost of each.

Want to guess what this stuff costs? [Hint: it’s more than $500]. Just imagine…

One bathroom, two adults, and items of clutter* defined as:

  • Never used
  • No longer used
  • No longer like
  • Never liked
  • Damaged
  • Past expiration date or old
  • Have multiples

*These items were not necessarily bought at Whole Foods. The bag just happens to appear in the photo.

Here’s your chance to guess and WIN a free clutter-clearing or clutter-coaching session over the phone with Laura!

Submit your entry by September 1, 2009 when the contest winner is announced.
