Sixty-Second Clearing To Calm the Mind

What’s going through your mind?

What I mean is…

  • What are you thinking about? Right this second.
  • Do you have 35 things spinning around in your head at the same time?
  • Are you skimming this post as quickly as possible so that you can get on to the next thing on your to-do list?
  • Are you holding a grudge about any thing or any one?
  • Are you wondering if you’re going to learn something practical, more concrete?
  • Are you wondering where I’m going with this exercise… This is not what I thought this post was going to be…
  • Are you attentive? Bored? Engaged? Curious? Overwhelmed? Stimulated?
  • How’s your breathing? Is it shallow, is it full?

That’s it. Time’s up.

Bringing the light of awareness to any thought – without doing anything to fix, change, manage, or medicate it – reduces internal noise and chatter, calms the mind, and e-x-p-a-n-d-s the quiet space around the thoughts.

Ooohh, radical thought….What’s going through your mind now?

Love this reminder to do one thing at a time, not rush, and take deep breaths. Like yoga for the brain!

You said it sister! Slowing down and breathing is the “Slow Food” approach to clearing the mental clutter. 😉 Thanks for your lovely note, and stopping by, Diane. I love having visitors!

p.s. I wrote a post sometime ago called “Reduce and Repeat” which offers a few practical tips on how to calm the mind by “going slow to go fast”: https://www.spaceclear.com/wordpress/?p=2269
