“I get what I think about whether I want it or not.” –Wayne Dyer
In my last post I shared an excerpt from my book Your Spacious Self. Here’s the continuation. Enjoy!
Clearing with Intention
Clearing with intention is a way to get our higher self to communicate with the toddler mind, continuously steering her or him in the direction of our heart’s longing. As we saw with Dr. Emoto’s water studies in Chapter 2, thoughts and words alone have the power to change the course of reality. If attaching a piece of paper with the words “Love and Gratitude” to a glass of water can raise the vibration of the water, imagine what we can do with our minds to clear and raise the energy of our homes, relationships, and lives.
But clearing with intention is more than simply directing, or guiding our thoughts purposefully. Abraham, in the book Ask and It Is Given, suggests that we connect with the feeling of the thought in order to manifest at a level of our deepest yearnings:
“…it is not so much about guiding your thoughts as it is about reaching for a feeling, because reaching for the way you would like to feel is an easier way to hold your thoughts in vibrational alignment with that which you believe is good.” [i]
As the full-throttle engine of a powerful manifesting machine, our intentions cannot be understated. There are two caveats, however:
1. Be clear how you state, invoke, visualize, and feel your intentions. The engine, once fired up, will produce results! If you are visualizing and feeling more financial abundance in your life that is encoded with a sense of optimism, possibility, and expansiveness, the universe will respond in kind. If, on the other hand, you are sending a signal for more abundance, which is laced with worry, scarcity, or neediness, the universe will respond to the scarcity signals by giving you more scarcity. In short, it is the quality of feeling that you send out which delivers what you get.
2. Let go of attachment to the outcome. Results don’t always come in the package or form that we might expect. By holding tightly to an agenda, an expectation, or a timetable, we close doorways that could lead us to places we never imagined. Our sole job here is to express (feel) our intention and get out of the way!
