“Courage: To tell the story of who you are with your whole heart.” –Brené Brown
“A change of heart, changes everything.”–HeartMath
I’ve written scads on the subject of feeling as the pathway to clearing. Or as I like to say “feel to heal.”
Now I can say that there’s a fabulous TED talk that bolsters my case.
In this talk Dr. Brené Brown shares her story of how, as a social work researcher, she came to understand what separates those who “live wholeheartedly” ( i.e. those who have a strong sense of worthiness, love, and sense of belonging) from those “who struggle for it.” She suggests that if we want true connection to happen with another person, “we have to allow ourselves to be seen. Really seen.”
In her TED talk (see below) Brown poses and answers these great questions:
“How do we learn to embrace our vulnerabilities and imperfections so that we can engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to recognize that we are enough – that we are worthy of love, belonging, and joy?”
It’s a beautiful message. Worth 20 minutes of your time.
And heart.
