“Joy. It is the byproduct of clearing. It is the champagne bubbles of being spacious. It is the natural flow that springs out of clarity. It is the fountain of youth. It is unstoppable, eternal, attractive, magnetic. It is the energy we give off when we are clear. Joy is who we are.” –Your Spacious Self
When was the last time you laughed out loud? Not just a half-hearted smile or giggle, but a full-blown, laugh-til-you-cry howl so loud that you split a seam, snort, fart, or pee in your pants? A laugh so hard that comes in waves and doesn’t let you go?
Truthfully, it’s been a while for me too. It feels like such a blessing when it happens. I love how it clears the energy in a space; changes the energy of a day.
And like most humans I forget that joy is our birthright. We don’t have to wait for it to “happen to” us. We can in-tend it. Call it in. Attract it. Be it.
We can remember that seriousness is just a state of being.
What is one thing about yourself that you take too seriously that could be lightened up by just being aware?
What is something serious you’ve been holding onto – a thought, a worry, a fear – that could be switched out and replaced with its opposite?
What is one thing that you can do to insert some unmitigated joy into your day today?
That would be the place to start.
Me?
“I Love Lucy” reruns do it for me every time.
Want more? Below is a video my husband showed me that made me laugh so hard. I love how beautifully it contrasts pure seriousness with pure joy.
